My Finished Series!

Thursday, 22 January 2015
There's been a lot of these types of videos going around booktube lately and, since I really enjoy watching them and am also interested in my own series read count, I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon. *spends ten minutes going through goodreads to find completed series* Unfortunately, I'm rather disappointed with my number (it seems I start a lot of series but never finish them -.-) but am up for showing you the ones I've read in their entirety anyway. To make myself feel better, let's just pretend I've forgotten a bunch I read when I was younger (which I probably will have, honestly)...

Harry Potter
First off, of course, we have the legendary HP series. Words cannot describe how phenomenal and utterly amazing these books are. I'll never be able to repay them for the comfort they've given me over the years and the way they've shaped me as a person.

A series I really adored with a protagonist who was amazing to follow. If you asked me to name a great fictional role model, I'd probably say Tris. She's human and flawed, sure as hell fights for what she believes in and always, always, always strives to do the right and moral thing. She's brave, smart, selfless, kind and honestly one of the best, most complex, amazing fictional characters you'll ever come across.

Dark Touch
A really fun, entertaining series I read a few years ago and loved. Really light reads I'd recommend marathoning in a day.

A thought-provoking trilogy I enjoyed.

A really fun series I adored when I read it a couple of years back. The world entranced me and I'm pretty sure kick-started my love for reading books with magical creatures. The covers are some of the most beautiful ones I've seen too.
The Hunger Games

My introduction to both the YA and dystopian genre. Adored these books. So fast paced and thrilling.

Read this trilogy when I was younger and really adored it. Fictional characters coming to life - what more could you ask for?
Chestnut Hill

Absolutely loved this series as a tween. I've always been very horse obsessed and a series all about four friends in an equestrian boarding school was perfect for me. I'd seriously recommend this to tweens and teens obsessed with horses - you'll love it.

A so-so series with some beautiful writing.

The Mortal Instruments

An alright/good series with some instalments better than others.

The Infernal Devices

One of my favourite series of all time and home to one of my favourite characters of all time too - Will. Except, I loved all the characters and the different relationships and the setting and time era and... just everything. They're pretty epic books, okay?

Have you read any of these series? What did you think of them?

Happy Reading,
Rachel xoxo

  1. I'm glad that I'm not the only one that's terrible at finishing series haha!

I still need to read City of Heavenly Fire, the last three HP books, the Inkheart books (I finally have all three so I shall be marathoning those shortly!), the HG trilogy, the Wings series and I have yet to read Reached (I'm procrastinating, I wasn't fond of the other 2).

I'VE READ (AND LOVE) THE INFERNAL DEVICES TOO! Will Herondale is my husband. He is, really.

    1. *wipes brow* It's good knowing you're not the only one. It's embarrassing how many series I've got where I've read every book but the last one. -.-

Hopefully you'll adore them all! I wasn't sure I was going to read Reached but I ended up reading it more for closure and to see what happened to the characters I'd been following.

Ehm, Will is my husband. :/

  2. I also read the Inkworld trilogy when I was younger, and loved it! And I've read the HP books, Divergent trilogy, and Hunger Games as well. I don't think I'll ever finish the Mortal Instruments series and I got spoiled for the Infernal Devices so I don't think I'll be finishing that one soon either...

    Great post :D

    1. I'm glad someone else loves the Inkworld trilogy - there are a few people I know who didn't much enjoy it after the first book. I also got spoiled for the last book in TID, but I read it anyway and I'm so glad I did. It's one of my ultimate favourites. :)

      Thank you!!

  3. Honestly, you've read far more series than I have. I used to be into series, but I often don't have the attention span to read 3 + books without getting bored. Also I usually hear about series long after they've first been published and the hype puts me off. Yay for Harry Potter and Delirium!
    Dark touch sounds great too!

    1. Big series are starting to overwhelm me too. But I'm always more drawn to the first book in a series compared to a standalone...

  4. I've actually finished very few series recently. When I was younger I finished way more but in the last year or two I've always been trying to find new series to read so it can regularly be several months or a year before I read the second book.

    1. Same for me. It'll take me a while to get on to the sequels. :3

  5. I've read and finished a lot of series in this list! I kind of regretted buying the entire Matched series, though, because I completely hated those books. Beautiful writing but with a bleah plot.

    1. Woo! *high five* It was the pacing in the Matched trilogy that got to me. I'm not one for incredibly slow paced books, even if some of the passages are beyond quotable.

  6. Oh my gosh you have completed so many series. I prefer trilogies to series because they're a good length for me. Long series means I have to commit to them but trilogies aren't too short or too long. I think it's mainly because I don't have as much time

    Great post!

Francoise @ My Crazy Bookish World

    1. Really? I thought my number was quite pitiful - considering all the series I've started and not finished or continued. *facepalm* Trilogies are a good length. :D

      Thank you!!

  7. Sigh, I haven't finished any of the series' that you've mentioned, although I have started a few. Especially Harry Potter - I stopped reading on the last book aha.

    Little Moon Elephant

    1. You stopped reading in the last book?! That's my favourite one!! :O

  8. WOW! you've read a lot of series.
From all of those I've only read The Hunger Games. I should finish the Delirium series, I loved the first book.
